1) When you were 10 years old, what did you dream of doing when you grew up and how do you spend most of your time today?
When I was 10 years old, I would dream of becoming a veterinarian so I could spend every waking moment taking care of animals. Today, I spend most of my time in class as I pursue my MBA at the Haas School of Business in Berkeley, California. However, I still fit in plenty of time with small animals when volunteering at the local humane society.
2) What organization and/or person do you admire and why?
Before starting my MBA program, I spent a few months traveling to some of the biggest national parks across the US and was mesmerized by the vast amounts of beautiful landscapes accessible to the public. I very much admire John Muir, who was ahead of his time and relentlessly advocated for the permanent protection of US land, especially in a time when there was no established roadmap to doing so.
3) What is your favorite place in Maine and what do you enjoy doing there?
Like many others, my favorite place in Maine is the summit of Cadillac Mountain, where I can be the first to see the sun rise and look out onto the islands in Frenchman's Bay. I also think Acadia National Park is the best place for stargazing, something I never grew up doing in Tampa, Florida!
